TIFF/IT-P1 Specifications

About Tiff/It-P1:

TIFF/IT-P1 is the preferred file format for the submission of digital ad materials to Wenner Media Publications. It is recommended by SWOP and is ANSI and ISO accredited. Tiff/It-P1 is ,by far, the most reliable, proven, and widely accepted file format. It is a raster based file which means that it has already been RIP'd (Raster Image Processed). In other words, all of the vector data (i.e. fonts, logos, gradient fills etc.), commonly associated with PostScript™ and PDF™, have been resolved to bit map data. This results in a very stable, predictable file.

Systems capable of generating Tiff/It-P1 were typically limited to high end, proprietary CEPS system (i.e. Scitex), however, there are now lower cost solutions available which run on Macintosh and PC platforms. For a list of vendors with Tiff/It-P1 capable systems, please click here.

If you prefer to out source the creation of TIFF/IT-P1 files, please refer to the DDAP DAD (Digital Ad Database) list of providers at http://www.ddap.org/dad/dad.pl.
